𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Name: Joel Miller
Series: The Last of Us - I am leaning primarily into the HBO adaptation, but I have played through both games and plan to use material from them to flesh things out that were omitted from the show or changed entirely. I can also easily adjust to game specific beats when interacting with characters pulled exclusively from the game, but I generally like to blend the two to the best of my ability.
Canon Point: All over the place! But primarily at the end of Season 1/Part 1, unless otherwise specified. I would love to do anything set during the 20 years post-Outbreak Day, during Joel and Ellie's trek across the country, in Jackson, au's, etc. I'm still not over Part 2 so anything that can be done prior to that (or changing it!) is definitely something I would love to play out.
Age: 56.
Of Note: Joel walks with a slight hitch in his giddy-up and has bad knees and a myriad of scars, some more superficial than others, including a more prominent one near his right temple. He has partial hearing loss in his right ear and a perpetually sore right shoulder as a consequence of routinely sleeping on his bad side. There is a knot of scar tissue on his abdomen from a puncture wound that healed badly, though this would not be readily seen. His hair is graying heavily, and he has a beard that grows in patchy, also peppered with gray. Relatively tall and broad, he is imposing and carries himself with the authority of someone who is fully capable of handling his own despite his age.

Contact: DM!
Backtagging: Please! I work School Hours and am really only available on evenings/weekends, so I hope that you will be patient with me as I can be kind of slow, especially with longer tags. If I lose track of a thread, please do not hesitate to contact me and let me know!
Threadhopping: Please ask first!
Fourthwalling: No thank you.
Formatting: Prose is more my default, but I am happy to adjust to brackets. I do write in present tense, though.
Offensive Subjects: I am pretty easy-breezy with most things, and the nature of the canon is pretty dark to begin with, so if you're unsure about something please don't hesitate to ask! If I'm uncomfortable with something, I have no problems letting someone know, but I am really only personally averse to writing anything that involves animal cruelty/death and non-consensual sexual scenarios. IC-wise, Joel is generally not a nice person. At best, he is standoffish and cold; at worst, he is violent and uncompromising. He may not be outright cruel, but his objective is rarely to make friends, and he has buttons that shouldn't be pressed and no real interest in expressing what those buttons are. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you're unsure or curious about something.
Spoilers: Part 2 of this game has been out since 2020. I will do my best to avoid spoiling people who are not familiar with the canon and are watching it as it airs on HBO, but I can't make any promises depending on the thread. For the record, I love Abby, and I would love to explore the complexities surrounding the runaway train that threw them together, whether via AU premises or just blurring the rules of, like, life and the game.

𝐢𝐜:
Physical Intimacy/Romance: I'm always game for writing ships, but Joel is closed off and very slow to warm up. Anything revolving around romance with him is going to take time getting there. I like playing out those aspects of relationships, but I also really enjoy the exploration that comes before or just developing solid platonic relationships.
Violence: Let's do it. Joel has been subjected to and done a lot of seriously fucked up things in the last 20 years, and I don't at all mind leaning into and exploring that. He's capable of extreme brutality - torture and murder do not phase him, and he has put down plenty of Infected - and does not pull punches, but he is not invincible and it is definitely possible for someone younger and stronger to outpace and subdue him. I would rather not write him dying, but injuries are not a problem.
Shipping Preferences: M/F. Joel is pretty prickly, and most of his relationships are not exactly healthy. That being said, Tess is largely the one holding his leash. I play Joel as having an established relationship with Tess that has lasted anywhere between 13 and 15 years, prior to arriving in Boston, though I can adjust depending on interpretation. Their relationship is the definition of It's Complicated, but they maintain loyalty almost exclusively to each other, live together, and operate a successful smuggling ring. They strictly do not discuss feelings, categorizing themselves as 'partners,' but the evidence exists both in the show and in the game. If Tess exists in a narrative - and I traditionally default to that, especially in anything set pre-series - she will exist in Joel's mind as his partner both in a business sense and in general. I am not adverse at all to cross-canon interactions/development/whatever! But it will take some time for him to Get There.
Hard No: Ellie. Tommy. Any of the Salt Lake City crew. Joel is 56 years old and is only interested in someone age appropriate. Anyone under the age of 35 is likely to register as a kid to him.
Smut: I don't mind writing it, but it is not my sole purpose for playing. Tlou is an amazing canon set in a crazy world, and I would love to play around in it. If sex is the natural progression of something, I'm totally down to follow that path and write it out. Fade to black is also good with me! I am not really interested in writing smut for the sake of smut and would like to see how our characters get on before jumping directly into it, besides.
Triggers: Joel's canon is a violent one. It harbors a myriad of unpleasant topics such as child death, murder, suicide (ideation/attempt), cannibalism, and drug and alcohol use/borderline abuse, to name a few. It is often stressed that people are the real danger, in addition to the Infected. It also deals heavily with a global pandemic and its ramifications. If something within the parameters of the universe makes you uncomfortable, please let me know and I will do my best not to mention it or work around it. As far as Joel goes personally, bringing up his daughter, Sarah, who died on Outbreak Day or Tess, post-Boston, or Sam or Henry or any of the people he has lost along the way, is probably not going to go over well.
